The ramification of wearing real fur

Beautiful and important. Animals suffered in agony for it? That's terrible but it looks so damn good on me!!"....

“No matter how plain a woman may be, if truth and honesty are written across her face, she will be beautiful.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

You may have heard the fashion myths....

1. Quality wise, real fur is always a better investment. There is not a man made synthetic fur replacement on the market that can replicate the textural delights and luxury that a genuine fur provides for its wearer.

2. The durability of real fur is unrivaled. Real fur is a nature provided barrier to the elements. It is designed to stand not only the test of time, but also any inclement weather conditions the wearer is faced with.

3. Genuine fur is an heirloom quality piece of clothing. It can be handed down from generation to generation in manner that, quite frankly, anything faux cannot.

4. Fur is in. Despite all of the campaigning otherwise, buyers want genuine fur because they know the difference between value and hype.

5. Wearing genuine fur transforms you into the crowd standout. Fur is an awesome accessory that can be adapted for any situation. It is easily dressed up for a fun night on the town and dressed down for a casual afternoon.

6. Authentic fur can be recycled and repurposed in a manner that would not be cost effective in regards to faux fur. True fur is an investment that can be transformed into a different silhouette or even a different garment all together.

7. Because genuine fur is a natural product, it is a biodegradable material that is a lot more Earth friendly. Also, because it is already made, man does not have to use valuable resources to create it. It takes one gallon of oil to complete the process of creating the fur needed for three faux fur coats. Faux fur is also a product that will not break down over time, creating more waste in landfills.

8. Currently, the markets are swimming with faux fur that is in fact real fur. Know what you are purchasing. When you buy a genuine fur, you can be assured that you are getting a truly high quality, durable fashion piece.

9. Wearing an authentic fur garment is undoubtedly a true luxury experience for any wearer. Faux fur cannot replace this feeling. You may think you are fooling onlookers, but you will always know that you are creating a false impression. Haute couture is defined by one of a kind pieces, not mass produced faux garments.

10. Real fur may be more expensive but it is worth the cost. With this price tag you inherit tradition, luxury, warmth and an article of clothing that will last many lifetimes over.

But there is just one problem, we are referring to a life, a life that takes breath in the morning, eats, runs, plays with his family and mates. A life that looks forward to the next adventure...

“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.”

How to tell the difference when buying faux fur

Real Fur

Real fur has a very soft and smooth feel as well as texture. It is made up of different layers of fur that will appear curly and dense towards the base. Fur trims are often accompanied with a leather base which is normally visible by lifting up the fur slightly. If you suspect an item you have already purchased to be real fur then you can pull a few hairs off of the fur and put them over a flame. Real fur will singe like human hair and will smell like burnt human hair.

Faux Fur

Faux fur feels much coarser and does not roll as easily between the fingers as real fur. Hairs are often the same length and have a less dense appearance. Faux fur rarely has a leather base underneath the trim unlike with real fur. You can also apply a flame to several hairs from the fur, faux fur will smell like burning plastic and should make the hairs harden and turn into small plastic balls.http://furcruelty.com/#/real-vs-faux/4545223743

If reading this article has convinced you to give up wearing real fur, thank you.

If not, you have freedom of choice, but at least you now know where your fur coat is from.
